FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FAQ

This depends on the type of STD panel you choose. Our Basic Test consists of a vaginal or urethral swab that checks for Gonorrhea and Chlamydia, the two most common sexually transmitted infections.

The test is usually quick and painless, and our English-speaking doctor will explain each step and answer any questions you may have. After the test, you will be informed when to expect your results.

Please continue reading our FAQs for more information about the other packages.

If you choose our Swab + Blood STD Panel, the doctor will also perform blood tests for HIV, Syphilis, Herpes Simplex Virus 1 (HSV-1), Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C.

All tests included in this package are rapid tests, so the results are available in about 20 minutes.

We recommend this package if you believe you may have been exposed to higher-risk sexually transmitted infections.

This is our most comprehensive STD panel. In addition to the other packages, it also includes Ureaplasma, Mycoplasma, E. coli, Proteus spp. / Providencia spp., Pseudomonas spp., Gardnerella vaginalis, Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, and Candida spp.

The full STD/STI panel requires a vaginal swab or a urine sample (urine sample for males only). Male patients should not urinate for at least 2 hours before the test.

The results take 48-72 hours.

Yes, we recommend testing for Trichomonas vaginalis for both women and men. It is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections and a frequent cause of vaginal infections in women.

In women, it can cause symptoms such as unusual vaginal discharge (sometimes yellow or green), a strong odor, itching, irritation, discomfort when urinating, or pain during sex. However, many women may have mild symptoms or none at all.

Men are often asymptomatic carriers, meaning they usually do not notice any symptoms but can still carry and transmit the infection to their partners. In some cases, men may experience mild irritation, discharge, or burning during urination.

Because the infection is very common, often silent, and easily treatable once diagnosed, we recommend including Trichomonas vaginalis in your STD panel for a more complete and reliable screening.

At ReadyHelp, we offer affordable STD/STI testing starting from 50€. You’ll receive reliable, quick service at a reasonable price. This option is especially useful for tourists and non-residents who don’t have Italian health insurance but need medical care while traveling.

If your STI/STD screening result is positive, our doctors will be able to prescribe you the appropriate therapy, which usually consists in a simple antibiotic regimen for STI/STD.

With ReadyHelp, you can expect to receive your STD testing results quickly. Our rapid swab tests take 20 minutes for the results.. Our English-speaking doctor will review the results with you during a follow-up consultation, either in-person or online, and guide you through the next steps if needed. This fast turnaround time allows you to address any health concerns promptly.

Symptoms of STDs or STIs can vary depending on the infection. Still, common signs include unusual discharge from the genitals, pain during urination, itching, sores, or rashes in the genital area. Some people may experience pain during sex, unusual bleeding, or swollen lymph nodes. However, many STIs, such as chlamydia or gonorrhea, can be asymptomatic. This means you may not notice any symptoms at all.
